This is Nyla, my 6 month old baby kitten. Nyla recently fractured her leg after falling from the 4th floor of a building. After checking the extent of her injuries, the doctor said that they might have to amputate her leg if it doesn’t heal in a cast. But to Nyla, the fall wasn’t an excuse to lie around in pain. It was almost like a new trick, learning to walk on three legs. She limps around, plays with Gigi, chases butterflies and cuddles on my pillow. She might be slower and more awkward in her gait, but she doesn’t ever stop or cry. After watching her healing process, I know that she’s brave and stronger than before. All animals are only filled with love, oozing with compassion and fun, craving for affection. They’re intelligent beings, sensitive to one another and deserve nothing but love. Today, go pet a stray dog, feed a bird, play with a kitty or just observe them in their natural, peaceful state. Don’t hurt them for fun, don’t poach them for greed and don’t hunt them for the game. They’re examples of courage in adversity, compassion in neglect and unconditional love.
