Fairly certain that this little love bug saved me from an accident this morning 🐈 I opened the front door and the stray cat that my downstairs neighbor and I have been feeding ran into the house and up my stairs. It'd been raining and I'm sure he was ready to get dry. He had a good sniffing of my space and let me pick him up, and I took him back outside with some food.
I almost let him stay inside, but my downstairs neighbor's cats aren't as welcoming and typically chase him off when they see him in the yard, so inside would be terrible. Anyway, he refused to eat and kept right at my legs, looking for love and pets. For ten minutes I would walk him to his food, and he would nibble, but eagerly follow me as I went back to my car. I finally just stood by him as he ate, glancing up at me every other bite to make sure I was still there. It was endearing, and I thought to myself as I was finally able to sneak away, that he needed to eat more than I needed to be on time to work today.
Turns out, there was an accident on a dark and rain soaked road not more than 10 minutes ahead of when I would have crossed through the intersection. The driver, going the same way I was, was t-boned by someone. It just as easily could have been anyone on the road. Everyone looked okay, albeit shaken up. A gentle reminder and affirmation of life and living gently. 💕✨
